Overview
The IMA collection of European and American decorative arts spans centuries, from the Renaissance to the present. More than 200 works from the collection are displayed in the European and American galleries.
Highlights of the decorative arts collection
English porcelain of the 18th century, including Wedgwood, Worcester, Chelsea and Derby, including a rare Wedgwood Portland Vase.
European porcelain, including Sévres, Meissen, Nymphenburg and Vienna.
Furniture in the collection includes American examples from the colonial period through Victorian times and into the modern era. Representing European styles are outstanding works by Boulle, Pugin and Majorelle, as well as objects created by anonymous designers and craftsmen.
European and American glass from the late 19th through the early 20th century, including pieces by René Lalique, Emile Gallé, Louis Comfort Tiffany and Josef Hoffmann.
American metalwork, including several pieces by the silversmith Paul Revere and the largest collection of work by Arts and Crafts metalsmith Janet Payne Bowles.
